Fire Department Water Tanker Shuttle Accreditation

Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accreditation - What Is It?

Please click here to view the Water Tanker Accreditation for the Townships three stations.

Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation is a program available to fire departments, where they demonstrate their ability to shuttle water by way of tanker trucks to fight fires in areas far from municipal fire hydrants.

The basic requirements for accreditation are:

1). Within five minutes of the first pumper truck arriving at the fire scene, firefighters must be able to deliver a minimum of nine hundred liters (900) liters/minute (200 gal./min) of water; and 2). Maintain that water flow is uninterrupted for two hours.

How Does Accreditation Benefit Residents?

Insurers utilize the information provided by the approved witnessing agency,  to set property insurance rates in Ontario. They are advised that Superior Tanker Shuttle Service Accredited areas of the municipality may be rated as "hydrant protected".

As a result of this accreditation, residents who own detached dwellings within eight (8) kilometers (by road) from any of the our three (3) fire stations may be eligible to receive a cost reduction in their fire insurance rates from insurers in Canada.

These fire stations include:

Station #1, 44 Main Street East, Lyn.

Station #2, 7519 New Dublin Road.

Station #3, 270 County Road #29.

Residents are encouraged to contact their Insurer, notifying them of our Fire Department's re-accreditation.

Insure that their dwelling is within eight (8) kilometers (by road) from their closest fire station as per the Accreditation criteria.
