Finding the Property
Finding the right place to locate your business can sometimes require the combined efforts of many people. Whether you are using a real estate agent to help you search for just the right location, or you are scouting it out on your own, it's important to remember that the municipality is here to help you determine if the property fits your needs. Contact the Planning and Development Department to ensure that the location is right for your business.

When choosing a location, you might consider the following three questions:

  1. Is it a home-based business?
  2. Are you looking for commercial and/or industrially classed property?
  3. Have you considered locating in the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley's Business Park?

The Township Business Park
Opened in 1984, the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley's Business Park is located along the busy County Road 29 Corridor, north of the City of Brockville, south of the Leeds County O.P.P. Detachment. The Business Park consists of 90 acres, 33 of which are currently vacant; the Township has reserved 54 acres of abutting land for the future extension of the park.

Coons Road Industrial Park
The Coons Road Industrial Park is located just to the north of the City of Brockville, along County Road 29. This privately owned industrial park enjoys all the infrastructure and transportation advantages of the Township owned Business Park.  The Coons Road Industrial Park hosts varied and thriving business community.

To learn more about land available in the Coons Road Industrial Park, visit the Land For Sale page.

Privately Owned Commercial/Industrial Land
To learn more about privately owned commercial/industrial land for sale in the Township, visit the Land For Sale page.

It is important to be aware that just because a property is zoned commercial and/or industrial, not all commercial and/or industrial uses are permitted on that property. There are different types of commercial and/or industrial zoning, and if you are looking at purchasing a commercial/industrial lot, it is advised that you contact the Planning and Development Department to ensure that the property is zoned appropriately for your intended use.

Home-Based Businesses
If you are considering starting a business in your home, there is one factor you should investigate at the outset. The primary concern for all home-based businesses is whether or not the activity you are considering is permitted on your property. Consult with the Township's Planning and Development Department to find out if the business you are considering is permitted under the zoning. In addition to home-based businesses are rural home occupations which provide accessory business opportunities from existing farming operations. For more information, or to discuss your potential home-based business, contact the Planning Department.
